I was five years old when I took my first photograph ... of my mom, dad and our dog (see the photo "Shutter Bug"). I've loved photography ever since. I won my first photo contest while in college and have had my photography in national, regional and local publications. I have had many of my weather photos shown on local television stations. Beginning in July of 2002 when I got my first digital camera; (a Kodak, then later a Olympus, now a Canon), I have taken a photo each day to put in my Photo Journal. I didn't think there would be much of interest EVERY day ... but God proves me WRONG. Each day...

Thanks, R Christopher. We started getting Painted Buntings in our areas about five or six years ago. The first time I saw one I thought it was a parakeet up in the tree, but when I finally got a photo. I looked it up in the bird book, and found out what it was. I was so thrilled. They have been coming back every year. This past spring, I have seen four young Painted Buntings
